Is a USB 2.0 PCI card faster than a USB 2.0 hub?

Title says it all...

Is a PCI card USB 2.0 add-on faster than running a USB 2.0 hub thru a single USB 2.0 outlet?

If not, then will using multiple USB devices thru the same hub have any bandwidth limitations? Such as a lag between using a keyboard and a mouse (both USB 1.0)???

Thanks in advance!

I have both scenarios . . . 3 PCI USB 2.0 slots . . . now with a USB 2.0 hub. Have noticed no apparent differences in device performance between the two. You might be aable to detect a difference using some benchmark software, but to direct user perception . . . no difference noted.

technically, your controller is called the ROOT HUB. yes your controller is a hub.

you cant have 2.0 speeds without a 2.0 controller, so why are you even asking?

the added cable length will add some lag to the speeds, but thats neglible. you still need the card, get the card now, get the hub later if you need 2.0 speeds. you can still use the 1.1 hub on a 2.0 controller. hell, you can keep the usb 1.1 on your motherboard if you get a 2.0 controller.
