I am a gamer/music lover/music creator-vocalist-guitarist. I built my new computer close to a year ago now. I am still trying to fill in some pieces of hardware I wasn't able to cover at the time. I'm not sure that I ever hooked up my onboard sound properly so maybe this is the reason I haven't been very impressed with my onboard audio. Still, I have been thinking about upgrading lately and I was hoping for some input.
I have been looking at a couple of Soundblaster Cards on newegg and the reviews have been really mixed. The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz and the Creative 70SB046A00003 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series. I just ordered some Logitech z-5500's but my buddy got me to hold off on purchasing a sound card.

System Specs:
- ABIT AW9D-MAX LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard - OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI ATX12V 600W Power Supply
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 65W - 2 Gigs Patriot Extreme Performance 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
-Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB
I am looking for a sound card that will be adequete to fit my needs. I use acid pro for recording and such and I have been considering picking up a usb sound interface soon enough for more recording purposes. Will a sound card seriously boost my sound performance? Are the cards I listed above worth buying? Can anyone recommend another sound card that might suit my needs better? What are the advantages of having the front bay interface on the Fatal1ty card (besides having a remote)? Thanks for your time.
