Is a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium a good upgrade over Audigy 2 ZS?

There is a nice sale right now on this card: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16829102024

I am wondering if it's a good upgrade over what I already have. My main reason for the upgrade is that my volume levels seem like they deteriorated over the many years of usage and I like the feature of "emulating" 7.1 channel audio through regular stereo hearphones. How well this feature works though, I really dont know.

Also, I want to mention that I have no intention of buying a 7.1 Speaker System because anything 7.1 that is remotely "good" is way out of my price range. I will be using this with a 2.1 speaker setup(Klipsch ProMedia) and (Sennheiser PC 155)stereo heahphones. Given what I said, is it worth it for me to upgrade at all?

I wil be using this mostly for games and basic mp3/utube listening.

Thanks.

I am against Creative Labs. If you like sound quality pick a different brand. ASUS Xonar DX is good, but I read its Windows drivers are poor. In Linux, it does not have a problem.

Using 7.1 channels for any setup is over doing it for sound. For surround sound 5.1 is all you need. A 7.1 surround sound only works well if the room is big.

It is waste of time to convert 7.1 to headphones. In movies, select the two channel audio track.

everything is digital now - so analog and its high db rate - for non musicians waste.

there are only two gaming chipsets left iirc. CL and CMEDIA

Huh?

As for the OP, no, I don't think it would, but Creative has a new card that is supposed to have excellent sound quality (as in competing with the Xonar Essence cards, but with the X-Fi chip).

It is $70 more than the card on sale, but it would be a more worthwhile upgrade.
