Is a RADEON 9800 (XT?) ALL-IN-WONDER Version 2.0, in the works??

thatsright

I really only ask this if anyone might now something and based on the FANTASTIC value that you can buy with the Radeon AIW 9600 Pro. Sure the 9800 Pro AIW is great, but for the price I don't think your getting as much Value, Per/$ as compared to the 9600 Pro AIW. So I'm hoping soon that we would see a Radeon 9800 Pro (or what about an XT, but I think the Heatskink would preclude any XT AIW version due to shortage of PCB 'real estate). I'd like to see:

R9800 AIW Ver. 2.0
w/ FM Tuner
w/ Dual Monitor Support
w/ Remote wonder II Or coupon for such
w/ HDTV Capable
w/ Pinnacle Studio 8 & HL2 Game/Coupon
w/ YPrPb Out Component Output
& Maybe a reasonable speed boost over the 9800 AIW

So if anyone knows anything, share your comments/opinions. Thanks

That'd be swell, but I think you're most likely to see a package like that in the new line of R420 cards. I doubt ATI would invest a whole lot more into putting out a new 9800 card design *now*.

I would expect to see an ATI AIW 10K (or whatever they call the new r420's) three months after the r420's come out. That is what happened with the 9700 Pro and AIW 9700 Pro.

I think at the moment a lot of your wants have to do with space. I could see a number of them being covered by the breakout box. But that would also make it larger. I have a 9800pro AIW and at the moment I just don't know how they would do dual displays on it. The inputs/output take up pretty much all the space on the card. The 9800 AIW already meets a bunch of what you seem to want though.

FM Tuner = no

Dual monitors = Sort of, but not really. You can run TV as a second, but its not really the same. Its mainly a space issue as far as I can tell. Just no room for another out.

Remote Wonder = It has a pretty nice one. Just not the range of the 2 (the one I got with me 9800pro AIW says 30 foot range, the remote wonder 2 says 60). I am sure in future AIW cards they will move up to the higher range, but the odds of me needing to use the remote 60 feet away is kinda slim so its not that big of an issue for me.

HDTV = Already can do this. Comes with adapter even.

Pinnacle Studio and HL2 = Comes with some version of Pinnacle. I have not used it though so I don't know what the differences are. Its an "ATI version". I do wish it had the HL2 coupon.

YPrPb Output = I think this is a space thing again. It has an adapter to go from component to this. But to have all 3 outputs on the breakout box would just make it larger. I could see them selling an optional breakout box of some sort for this.

They pack the features on pretty thick already. Since they usually seem to release one AIW version for each chipset I wouldn't expect to see another top of the line AIW card untill their new chipsets come out. Probably 2 to 4 months after initial release. That seems to be their usual speed on the AIWs. Since to my knowledge they have never done it I would not expect to see an FM tuner on an AIW card. I got mine for $377 and feel it was well worth the money.

Actually for dual monitors they won't need to add another physical out, Ati could handle dual monitors like they did with the AIW 9600, use one out and a dongle to handle dual outs.

The 9600 AIW has an FM Tuner.
