Is a Parking ticket with a typo valid?

Yeah so I'm wondering if it's worth contesting this ticket since they wrote the wrong make of car down. Is it still valid?

I highly doubt it. If they've got your license plate and all the other information correct, a minor error like that is not going to get you off.

Yea, license plate errors (particularly those coupled with another descriptive error) tend to do the best on appeal.

you've got a great argument that he wasn't even sure what car he was looking at when he was writing the ticket..... go for it

It's worth a shot, I guess..

What do you have to lose?

You have to pay extra for court costs to contest it before a judge here.

I highly doubt you would get it dismissed if that's the only information they got wrong.

Yeah I'll definately file a complain and see what happens. I think I'll have my pre-law buddy write it up for me. Hehe.

Well the ticket was probably ON his car, but thats a side issue 🙂

LOL, wishful thinking at its finest! You get an "A" for creative effort....but instead of getting off, you'll probably only get a laugh outta the magistrate.

You're right of course, but I'm not a big fan of the pd at this school and would not miss out on an opportunity to be a thorn in their side.

It was only $20. I parked in a 1/2 spot overnight (got home at 1am and moved my car at 6:30am) and they had already given me a ticket.

Exactly. If the guy (or gal) can't read the giant Mazda emblem on your car I'd be worried about their ability to read parking meters, etc.

"1/2 spot"? You mean a half-hour limit parking space? What did the sign in front of the spot say exactly?

They'll just look up your plate number. You'd have more luck if both the plate # and make were wrong.

The reason why the "make" entry is on the ticket is to prevent meter maids from picking out random plate numbers and writing up tickets for 'em. It's proof that they actually saw the car.

If it is campus police, then chances are that parking services deal with the tickets, not the police... so you wouldn't be a thorn in anybody's side.
