Whats the best NIC card out there, or doesn't it really matter? What features are important? I thinking about getting the Netgear 314 to share my RR cable connection with my 2 systems. Appreciate any help.

All pretty similar. Picky or dedicated junkies usually get -- Intel 10/100, Netgear, Linksys, etc.

3com 3c905 has been my card of choice since it came out. Linksys and SMC have matured nicely as well.

Netgear's NICs are easy to setup and quite reliable... it is the NIC of choice for many ppl...

3Com and Intel are certainly one of the best.

STAY AWAY from cheap Realtek-based NICs.

My main system has a realtek. I thought I would go with the Netgear NICs to be consistant with the RT314 router I'm gonna get, but it probably doesn't matter.
