hijacked from another thread in which Fritzo has a nazi flag in his room and the stupid post from sammyson saying its a definate collector's item. i believe that sammyson is a moron that hasn't been edumacated enough.

but, is the flag a collector's item?

i just posted this in that thread

o calm down about the flag, my friends dad has like 3 of them. he also has 2 FULL German NAZI Officers uniforms and a SS officers uniform. fully complete to every detail. and some cool WW1 stuff like spiked helmets and such. they are collectors items worth allot of money

i still wouldn't display is no matter what, for what it represents it is horrible. in a museum yes, to show history.

If it's a REAL WWII flag.

But not if you live in Europe.

Possession of Nazi items is illegal in a lot of Europe.

OOPS double post.

otherwise no...

I would display it but it would have to be proper context. My fiancee's stepfather has a "history room" where he has a ton of WWII items (mostly PTO) and a Nazi flag would most definately not be out of place there.

I would display it, by itself or otherwise.
Going that route (Not by itself) would also beg the question, why display a Cross on your wall? Roman Catholics werent known to be good neighbors. 😉

Ok, so I wouldnt display it by itself, I'm just playing devils advocate. But I *would* love to have one!! (An authentic Nazi flag) I have a deep interest in WWII, so anything from that time period interests me.

As long as it's clear that it's not something you identify with I don't see the problem. If I had a real one from WWII I'd display it. Imo there's no reason to get more upset about it than any other WWII memoribilia. One peice of history from a horible time is just the same as another imo.

It's not what you think.

What he said

Suppose it's not from the war, it's still from the era.
Besides, consider an American confederate flag- not the highest regarded institution, the Confederacy, but an original flag would be worth a lot of money to some people.
The same with any nation that no longer exists or that has changed their flag.

EDIT: the post might be messed up because I had to move it from the desk thread. I feel so honored.

SammySon, please don't take this the wrong way, but WTF would you want a NAZI flag? And before your call me out and say it's a "vintage" flag, how do you know this? Again And to quote you SammySon:

Just because I'd like to have one, does not mean I support their views. Get a grip people.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you really feel that way, my condolences and don't forget to ask for a refund from your school as you obviously haven't learned enough IMHO.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, I havn't learned enough. I guess we should fly a french flag after all of their atrocities in south east asia. Or mabey we should fly a british flag, they never mentioned having an empire the sun never sets on. Mabey a Iranian flag, or a North Korean flag, or a Saudi Arabian flag, they are SO friendly!. Or mabey a Cambodian flag, because we all ADORED POL POT, didn't we! Or, we could fly the BEST flag of all the American flag, because it stands for everything that is good in the world of men.
Now I have no idea if its vintage or not, and there would be no underlying reasons for me TO know. So, don't imply that I'm a nazi. What if I was just a collector of historic icons? Would I be a nazi then? Anyway, I can name a thousand original cultural icons I'd love to posses to put on display for others, but that in no way means I support thoes ideals the icon stands for.
If you make that impossible implication I believe that you are the one who should ask your school for not teaching you about logic.

sammyson, if you haven't learned anything about history, please take some classes. there is no vintage/antique value to the nazi flag unless you are a nazi/racist/bigot.

collectors item if you are in the KKK.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope, I went to one of thoes universities that didn't require history for a BS.
rolleye.gif

So, you're telling me there is no historic value to say... confederate war relics? Mabey there is no value to thoes old houses on PLANTATIONS? No value to British opium era hooka pipes from china? There is no value to mongolian relics? No value to original things from the witch hunts of salem, mass.?

You are telling me there is no value in our history. That we must shun and forget our past and "move on" right? Just like it never happened? We should burn and destroy all known existing relics of any society, culture, nation, peoples, that are determined to be "evil"

I think YOU are the one that should go to school, mabey you should graduate high school first.
I am NOT saying that I support the nazi, or kkk ideals. I in no way implied that I support nazi/kkk ideals. You are NOT defined by WHAT YOU OWN. That is a horribly sickening corporate American ideal.

What I find funny, is that something like a nazi flag is shunned like a leper. But items such as GUNS and CANNONS and SWORDS are coveted items. Devices that claim fame by killing other humans. Excellent.
You people speak as if you know the worth of everything, and the value of nothing.
