Is a list still a list if you only have one item on it?

When does a list become not a list, i.e., can you have a list with no items on it?

Only if you define it as a list, can a list have one item. Example: A piece of paper with the word List on the top, then 1 item underneath it.

If it is not defined as a list, then no, 1 item does not make it one. Then it is just a note.

That's a good question. I know my list titled "things I peed on whilst sleeping" contains 0 items, and some guys, as well as their girlfriends may have much longer lists.

a list with nothing in it is just the empty set. you can add things to a list that has nothing in it to begin with too.

I don't see why it couldn't just have one item in it, but as an aside I wonder why you would WANT to call it a list with only one item.
