is a human still a human if they have a synthetic brain?

in my opinion, it's how a person lives his life that determines whether he is human or not.

edit: but then again, there are different definitions of "human"

Very good question, and one of which I don't have the answer. I suppose the only real answer would come in the religious form and whether the person still has a soul. If you don't believe in that, well it's all just relative.

It is our brains that make us human.

If we could synthetically make a brain, and it functioned in the same way and had all the same capabilities, sure.. they would still be human.

I thought it was opposable thumbs? 😛 (Not serious.)

I think two of the defining points of humanity are the capacity for self sacrifice, and the ability to rationalize that it takes less energy to remain miserable than it does to find happiness.

But that is me.

Says my brain at the moment I was thinking about this post. 😛

I mean.. what is it, if it isn't our heads? It's our conciousness, our presence of mind that makes us unique in the animal kingdom.
