so I might be wanting to pursue an mba at a school that I found. however, they also require a Gmat of 460 to be admitted.

Is a GMAT score of 460 hard? anyone have experience taking the GMAT?

now correct me if I"m wrong, but the highest score in GMAT/GRE is 1600 right? and I heared that everyone starts out with 200 for math and 200 for verbal, totaling 400. so I only need to get 50 more points to meet the minimum?

is that how it works?

Getting below 450 is hard.
Oh and unless this is clown college, I really don't think just hitting the minimal will get you into a grad program.

No, that score is not difficult to obtain. In fact, it's hard to obtain less than that unless you're not breathing.

UncleWai - the UW MPAcc Tax program does not consider the GMAT score in its admission process, though just having one is a requirement and scores below a certain level require a waiver. I saw several folks in my grad class who scored below 600 and still did perfectly well in my graduate tax program.

I just took it last weekend with 3 weeks of studying and ended up with a 650 (rushed at the start of the verbal part, thought i was running out of time about 1/3 the way in)

Average is like 500, so i don't think you will have a problem.

How hard is the GMAT compared to the ACT/SAT? I know, I know, it is for a masters program. What did you guys who took the GMAT get on those college entrance exams?

I thought that the GMAT was an easier test to take than the SATs were.

I"m planning to take it probably end of this month or early next month, any suggestions as to how to study with a month's time.

thanks.

Definitely study, as it isn't a push over exam (but 460 shouldn't tough at all). I studied though for a good 6 weeks (while working full-time). I think the grammar part of the GMAT is fairly tough, at or at least emphasizes different things than your other standardized tests.

I got a 700 on the GMAT, and 1540 on SATs (for whoever was asking about GMAT/SAT scores).

I think 450 should be easily attainable. I got a 660 on my first try, and I studied for only about a week or so.

Best way to study is to go to your local library and get books from Kaplan and PR. The Kaplan 800 book is very tough, and will be harder than anything you experience..I recommend it though. For comparison, I scored a 730 on GMAT (also studied about a month while working fulltime), and a 1380 on SAT. If you did decent in college I would see no reason for a score below 600. Take your time, as the most important questions as far as your grade goes are the first batch.

Kaplan 800 book plus the one that deals with essays too. Read the two over 3 weekends, skimmed the math part of the 800 book, got a 730. 1400 on the SATs for me.
