Is a Fast Ethernet Hub backwards compatible with regular Ethernet?

My D-Link switch just died and so I was wondering if I can replace it with a LinkSys StackPro 100 8-Port Workgroup Hub (SPHUB08W) that I've had sitting around. The problem is that the box for the Linksys unit doesn't mention 10BaseT at all and my network is a mix of both (my old D-link served as a 100/10 switch/hub). So, what happens when I plug both 100Mbps and 10Mbps connections into the Linksys? Will the 10BaseT ones just stop working? Thanks.

yes, the 10baseT stuff would quit working, as far as I can see. It needs to have 10/100.

plub it in and find out.

If it is truly a 100 Base-T hub the the 10 Base-T cards won't get a link or work.

Usually you should look for the keyword "autosensing" on the web site or on the product's box.
