Is a DVD player still worth it? Pioneer elite dv-48

In particular, the Pioneer Elite DV-48 at Vanns.com for $100 shipped. I still watch alot of DVDs and my family prefers to use a stand alone dvd player over my PC that's hooked up to the tv (it's not really a HTPC, half of the time the tv isn't plugged into my PC and don't think people will wanna deal with switching in my pc when they watch my tv)

anyone have experience w/ this dvd player? any cheaper alternatives? should i just save up for a PS3?
 
If you have HD, put the money to Blu-Ray (Panasonic BD-35).

If you don't have HD, put the money to a HDTV.
