Is a dress shrit and tie acceptable for an interview?

I'd say depends on the company. If the company is business casual, then sure, why not. I've had interviews where the interviewer showed up in jeans and a t-shirt. It can't hurt to try to figure out the company culture and go off of that.

We're a pretty conservative company. Its an internal interview (Different position, same company) soI was thinking of just wearing a company shirt. Both comfortable and acceptable for business casual dress. 😀

We have a winner! 🙂

When I interviewed for my current job, they said that I don't need to dress up. I showed up in a collared shirt and a nice pair of jeans.

It's an internal interview for cryin' out loud. If you don't know how to dress for the company you work for why are you asking ATOT?

Because I'm a grunt carrying a bucket for this company, and I'm interviewing for the guy in the shade with the ice tea watching the grunts.
Figuratively speaking of course.
