I'm seeing a guy now who is a "D.D.S. D.Med.Sc".
What does this mean? Is he a Dentist/MD or is he a Dentist with a PhD?

DDS = Doctor of Dental Surgery
D Med Sc = Doctor of Medical Science
So he probably has both degrees.

I think the question is what is the difference between a DMD and D Med Sc? This guy appears to have both.
You are so smart Sacrocant, because you got exactly what kind of doctor he is. It's actually a head/face pain clinic. I think he's an MD and not a DMD? Or is there a difference when you're a DDS?Originally posted by: SacrosanctFiend
D.Med.Sc just means he completed theoretical research training in a specific subject. In his case, a medical specialty. Which is interesting because he's a DDS. DMD is a Doctor of Dental Medicine, and DDS is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (there are no differences), neither have an MD unless they complete an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program.
