Quick question for you guys. Starting to look for equipment for my new PC and have a question.

I am looking at the Abit IX38 and it says it supports crossfire. Will it also work with Nvidia cards in SLI?

Thanks for the help.

No. If it does not explicitly list SLI support, it does not support SLI.

I think only nvidia chipsets support SLI...

A side question: For X-Fire capable mobos, can I use the extra PCIe x16 slot for other PCIe cards ( eg sound card)?

Well, I asked the same question awhile ago but then I looked and there are modified drivers that support sli on non-sli boards. If it can run crossfire then it can run sli but you have to download hacked drivers. You also have to buy an extended sli bridge to fit the larger distance. Here is a thread with 7900gtx sli, there should be 8 series now or soon.

There haven't been modded drivers for SLI/CF on non reference boards for a while now the drivers out for it are for older generation cards with older drivers- I wouldn't hold out for 8 series support anytime soon.
