Is a Botanist a Biologist?

MY friend and I are having this argument, he says since the lady in the movie Paycheck was a botanist only because she studied plants in the movie. I am trying to explain to him that at a higher level, a Botany is a subset of Biology, what is you guys take on it?

A botanist is one that studies plants.

It would be like calling an Electrical Engineer simply an "engineer". While technically correct, you don't really get much out of it.

Biologist could mean anything, plants, animals, bacteria... It would be better to use the more specific term.

But yeah, it is apart of the "biologist" category.

A botanist is a biologist. So is a zoologist or an entomologist.
