is a black person doing whiteface the same taboo as a white doing blackface?

It's OK for black people to make fun of white people.
It's not OK for white people to make fun of black people.

At least from a cultural standpoint.

Here is why, though it's probably pretty obvious ...

White people used to keep black people as property for hundreds of years.

Due to systematic torture, murder, rape, and enslavement for generations, white people have to play nice with black people.

Race really should not matter for anything, but, It will be many generations before the infinite horrors of slavery are far enough behind us that people won't be as sensitive to the issue.

Waaaa, I'm white and I am not allowed to poke fun at black people,... waaaaa!!!

Just watch Key & Peele, laugh your balls off, snicker with your white friends over the n-word skits and call it a life.

If it makes you feel any better, Key & Peele are bi-racial (their mothers are white,..., wait, that might actually enrage some of you further,...).

I think we need to look at it on a case by case basis. It certainly could be racist if it was done in less light hearted way. You can't just call all instances racist though. You have to assess what the intention was.

It depends on context totally.

In COMEDY it's purely COMEDY though.

Comedians joke about cancer, AIDS, still born babies, being trapped in cars and burning to death, etc.

They aren't serious, they are FUCKING COMEDIANS!

Just wanted to point out that my family did not come to this country until the 70s and therefore we share no blame or responsibility for slavery. Sorry but this cultural standpoint is BS and I shouldn't have to give preferential treatment or walk on eggshells around black people for a past injustice I was not part of. So many cultures have suffered other equally terrible injustices, so why permit blacks to get away with demanding preferential treatment? I dont buy it.

Black people did it too. Hell, they did it first. Where do you think the evil whites bought the first African slaves from, SlaveMart?

The "image" of slavery in the US was White who enslaved blacks. I've simply explained why it's not PC in the US. I don't give a shit about race.

That's nice. My family has no known history of having slaves. I personally never have had slaves either. Nobody is talking about walking on eggshells. I simply said you can't be blatantly racist and act like a moron.

This is not so much my opinion, as a collective cultural opinion. White people can't say the N word, black people can say the N word.

Also, White males dominate pretty much all public offices across the country, white males tend to have all the power and money in the country.

Even if you are a poor white male, and you have no power and no money, and you are not part of the "problem", it's not cool for you to act like a fool.

It seems (to me) that racism towards whites is ok, but don't you DARE doing it the other way around.

There is plenty of examples of that in our society.

BET
Black colleges
Black Month

There is NO WAY IN HELL.....
White Entertainment TV
White College
Or white month
.....would EVER fly

But at the same time, one can say whites deserve it AND some, after ALL the damage we have done.

100s of years of "little racism from black" will never make up what has been done to that race by whites....

Aside from the fact that 90% of what's out there is geared towards white people already, we could also argue that "white" is not a form of entertainment.

There are plenty of Jewish schools and Polish radio stations and those are perfectly ok. But you're talking about creating a "White" Entertainment Television not out of necessity, yet strictly as revenge for those uppity black people who wanted a TV station that featured entertainment Afican-Americans could enjoy. That's pretty fucking racist.

And I say "African-American" because African-American entertainment is completely different from Jamaican-American entertainment because the culture is different even those are all "black" people.
