Is a 7 Series an "Ultimate Driving Machine"

Was taking a real good look at a parked one yesterday and it is still butt ugly (pun intended also). I said the same thing about the last Prelude but it grew on me enough for me to buy one but I would never consider the current 7 now even if I could afford one.

They don't even compete with the top large sized luxury cars like the S55 or S8 do they?

Well, if BMW made an M7 it would. BMW 7 series = Mercedes S class.

And as far as an M7, why bother when they have the 760?

I personally like the new 7 series... it grew on me much quicker than I expected. Everytime I see one in person I just stare.

Now thats not to say the car has some major design flaws Oh, and they don't have a variant of the 7 series that competes with the uber models like the S55 AMG or S8.

I've ridden in the older one. My buddy has the sport model which is nice. Sat in a new one which is kind of funky in a computerized kind of way. But that doesn't make it an ultimate driving machine.

I own a 7 series and I didn't like it at first but it grew on me.

Now I think its the best sedan out but im biased. The interior is even better it has spoiled me so much that now when I get rentals I say wtf.

Im considering the new 6 also, in other words I like the new bmw style.


The Ultimte driving machine should be applied M's only.

How does it handle? How is the acceleration? Have you driven others in the same category of cars? How would it compare?

Here some old pics from when I first got it in 02' it has few changes to it since then, but i have no pics
just tinted windows and 21" silver lowenhart.

The 7's looks are controversial. The entire car, not just iDrive, is overly complex.

But, compared to the others in its class, it is the Ultimate Driving Machine. I've driven one, and there is no doubt.

Edit: Logic 7 is also he best stock stereo system I've heard.

o yea Logic 7 is like having a stock competition stereo system.
13 speakes which includes 2 10" subs below the seats.

I have driven the previous model 740i quite a bit and it was a very very nice car. Fast as hell, handled great and it had nice looks. I'm sure the new one is faster and handles just as well if not better but I really don't like the looks. It just looks like a big ugly sedan. The previous model looked sleek and muscular from the outside to the drivers seat you could tell that this was a car designed to be an extension of the driver and a fun car to drive. The new one just looks awkward.

Why not? The new 7 series is a world class car, one of the most technologically advanced ones as well.

yes i have. i've also driven in bentley's, 360's, e55's, sl55's, etc etc etc

about the only thing i haven't driven is a lambo/mclaren/saleen

Here's a thought, try going to the BMW website. I'm sure they have pictures of the interior there.
