I'm looking for a good video card that can play most everything at high resolutions with AA but not cost a shit-ton.

These seem to do the trick in the $150 - $200 range.

Are they good mid-range pics or is there anything that is a much better choice?

Thanks!

The best deal I've seen so far for a midrange GPU was $120 for a 1gb GTX 460.

I'm surprised that the 460 has held on for so long.

I'm not sure what the 6850s go for now, but at $150 they were a good buy not long ago.

toyota,

Here is link to systems I'm looking at - in particular the Gamer Mage D355 as it has a 6870. The only thing which I will need any real power out of the system is gaming - hence my question if a gaming system based around a 6870/6850 is where to go. Thanks for any thoughts on those cards (or that system as a whole)!

If i were you, if you don't care about changing the motherboard to 1 less pci-e 2.0X slot, a different case and 4 GB of memory. You can add the HD6950 for only $21 extra.

according to this link http://www.ibuypower.com/info/deferred-delivery.aspx

the 6950 will spank the 6850 and can handle today's games and then some.

with rebates and deals ect, i got my 6850 for about $130-150, I love it, but thats because it maxes what i have at 1920x1080 resolution(on max anywhere from 30-60 fps depending where i'm at in the game, like on new vegas strip in fallout: nv, it always drops a bit because of all the flashing lights ect ect, but still runs about 45 fps) If you don't really have a budget cap, i'd go for a better card, but if you're looking for something cheaper, i love my 6850, and gtx460 would probably be fine too.

I wouldn't get a phenom at the moment when BD is launching in 2months. If you are though then get a mobo that will work with bulldozer like the GB 8series rev.3.1 boards
