Is a 50" plasma my best bet for ~$600

My 50" Mitsu DLP is dying, or has been dying forever. I bought it from a friend for 50 bucks (+100 for a bulb) 18 months ago. The bulb died in December and I got a new one free under warranty. Now 5 months later its already showing issues again... tv blinking on and off... sometimes not coming on at all etc. So its time to put that experiment to rest.

50" is a good size for me and I do not care about any special features, just the best IQ for the price. Do not care about 3D, smart, weight, power consumption, bezel etc. Any serious TV watching will be done in low light/darkness so I'm not too worried about having a great looking tv in the middle of a sunny day with all the curtains open either.

How are these?
