Is a 2008 Dell 2408WFP worth buying today?

I thought I might get a used LCD monitor for our second PC . No gaming. Just general use.
I found a Dell 2408WFP 24" 1920 X 1200 from 2008 for 80.00 locally. A friend of a friend has it. I've seen it. It looks fine. It has a large number of inputs and the stand is real nice.
My main question would be the remaining lifespan on a 8 year old LCD
I'm thinking 80.00 is too much. Opinions please. Thanks

The back light can dim sometimes significantly over time. As long as you feel the screen is bright enough it seems like an ok deal.

You could probably pick it up for $70 unless he is firm on the price.

That's a great monitor with the perfect resolution. I have a 2405 still going strong! Get it!

thanks for the input everyone. It seems plenty bright to me. I was being cautious because of the tube lighting. I picked it up today. I like that 1920 X 1200. the colors seem accurate though the blacks are better on my LED Vizio 32" TV I use as a main monitor.

well, I've changed some settings, and installed the ICC profile. what a nice display this is, very good blacks, and very good color. I'm very pleased with it

I recently picked up a Dell 2410 from 2013 from a guy locally who had a matching pair he was selling, I paid $145 for a single monitor and am probably going to go back to him this week and get the 2nd so I have a matching monitor. Great display, you should be happy with it!

the only problem is the audio out jack does not work with the HDMI. it does with displayport. from what I have read, this was a common issue. no big deal
