Is a 17inch LCD monitor worth it?

My 17inch CRT monitor is acting up, and I think it's time to get me a LCD monitor. However, I dnot know if I want to shell the extra money
for a 17inch LCD. I prefer the 15inch models because they are cheaper, but I love the extra viewing area that comes with a 17inch monitor. So, should I just stick with my CRT and buy another 17inch or will I not notice a difference with a 15inch LCD?

I believe the measurements on a LCD are actual measurements..

IE, A CRT at 17" actually has 15" of viewable area.. A 17" LCD actually has 17" of viewable area.. I could be wrong..

DaZ is right about the viewable screen size, a 15" LCD roughly equals a 17" CRT, 17" LCD roughly equals a 19" CRT, and so on.

I would just get a nice CRT. Really nice LCDs are still very expensive and the moderately priced ones have mediocre image quality at best.

Yup.. If Space isnt an issue, stay with CRT. Especially if you play games..

The cheap LCD's still arent very good with high action video.. Newer ones.. (within the last year or so) are better with things like games.. But they cost more.
