He was trolling, has never actually traveled 55 MPH before, or is 90+ years old.

I drive 55 MPH regularly. That is the standard limit on rural roads in NY.

Since when does driving faster than someone else mean you're saying "to heck with everyone else"?

If anything, the people who stay in the left lane and don't move over when someone is behind them thus obstructing traffic are the ones who are saying "I am all important to heck with everyone else".
