You're doing it wrong, you can get like 40,000 3dmarks ;)

<--- go run 3dmark '01 ;)

Sounds about right, somewhat similar CPU as mine, 4gb over 2gb I have, and a 8800gt vs my 8800gts 320mb, and I think I score about 8000.

As others have said, normal for that CPU.

For comparison I get 98xx with my X2 3600+ @ 2.8GHz + 8800GT.

I have a 7950gx2/5000 B.E that scores 9126, so I'd say you are CPU limited quite a bit. Only thing to do would be to put the spurs to that 4600 and see if you can bump it up a bit.

It's your CPU that's holding you back on the 3DMark06 score. I have the ECS 8800GT 512MB 650(core)/1900(memory)/1625(shader) and ran 3DMark06 on 2 computers and I got the following scores:

Computer 1:
AMD X2 3800+ @2.9GHz
2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR400 @387MHz
3DMark06 score - 10,007

Computer 2:
Intel C2D E4500 @3.2GHz
4GB (4 x 1GB) DDR2 667 @698MHz
3DMark06 score - 11,770

I get around 11000 with the specs in my signature. I thought mine was low too. I think the guys that get crazy high scores are running certain ways to achieve higher scores. I think they have certain drivers and all that jazz.
