Is 7600GS worse than 9800pro? I don't believe it!

My Fusion HDTV tuner card with cable-in worked well on a Barton 3200+ with 9800pro. The HDTV program uses Dxva for video acceleration, AGP8X is good enough. So after I upgraded to X2 3600 with 7600GS, the HDTV video will stutter. The CPU usage is only 10%. Changed the video setting to use Dxva or disable it, no luck.
Is it possible the HDTV card only detect AGP bus instead of PCI-E, therefore no acceleration for 7600GS?
I put in a Radeon HD 2400pro, the same problem happened again.

Googled and found no answers. Please help.

Thanks!

Did you do a fresh install of the OS when changing the hardware?

Installed the chipset drivers etc.

In v3.61 I use decoder option Zulu DxVa with vmr renderer and set digital interlacing to auto.

I've used Fusion HDTVs in both AGP & PCIe systems without issues. I did disable Timeshifting in v3.61 because it was a little buggy.

It seems we've had some of the same experiences. I've gone from socket A's to dual cores and switched between ATI & nvidia. Clean installs of graphic card drivers and Fusion drivers always seem to correct whatever issues arise for me.

A visit to the AVS Forum may be of assistance to you. . . .

Edit: I switched between decoder options. In Zulu without DxVa - with and without vmr renderer. I was around 10% cpu (at highest quality). I noticed a bit of stutter from time to time.

There was no stutter when I switched back to Zulu DxVa with vmr renderer and my cpu usage dropped back to 4-5%.

Yes, because I changed the mainboard also I had to do a fresh install. Fresh OS, fresh video driver, fresh Fushion driver.

The picture quality with Zulu Dxva only is pale, with VMR renderer it looks really good, but always stutter on every mode. :(

I will remove the drivers and reinstall to see.

Thanks, heyheybooboo.

I'm not too happy with my 7600GS. Playing in UT2004 it frequently drops the fps to single digits. My 9800pro never did that.

Is this during normal watching, or what is recorded on the HDD? Your playback software has to support PureVideo HD hardware acceleration for the GS to help with it. However, that X2 should easily be enough for MPEG2 HD content without help.

This is for watching TV broadcast, not recorded file.

256 bit and 128 bit, that's might be the reason. Previously my 9800pro and X800XL both handled very well, but 7600GS and 2400pro sucked to the bone. Well my 8500GT is on the way, 128 bit it is, but I will try it to see.

Thanks!
