Is 650 Enough?

I have 2 8800GTS cards running in SLI mode with a duo 3GHZ proc.

My system runs fine but crashes during crysis all the time. Could this be a power thing?

It also does it in doom3 once in awile and sim city 3 (this game always sucked though)

Crysis does not last 10 minutes though... Could this be a power problem.

I have a:
--650 Watt -- NZXT PRC-650 Power Supply SLI Ready

crash = compeate freez with no log dumps. Forced to do a hard reboot.

Complete freeze, hmz hmz. I think that if it's a power issue, as in, your PSU is not up to snuff, then your system will power of and not freeze completely. Perhaps driver issues ? I might be wrong though, one suggestion would be to remove ONE videocard, and then try playing again. To bad this won't rule out wether it's the SLI fudging up, or if you are having PSU trouble.

Thanks for the feedback. It is good to know it is probably not the PSU.

I don't think it is the SLI because when I turn off SLI it still dies.

I'll try each card alone. I can not picture both would be bad.

I'll also try half my ram at a time.

Don`t assume right off the bat that it`s your PSU!!

Good Luck!!

Everyone always thinks it a PSU issue. How the PSU is always misunderstood...

Could very likely be psu. If intense 3d application are the only time you have these issues I would say the odds are pretty good it's a power issue. Memory issues don't limit themselves to games. ie...if it's a ram issue you'll have problems in applications across the board.
I surefire way to find out is to disable sli. If all of a sudden your games start running fine then you'll know it's probably lacking power and not memory.

You are running SLI and on a unit that is not 8800GT SLI confirmed.

If you want a top of the line unit, Etasis, is an excellent unit. They manufacture for Silverstone.
