I have a MSI K7 Master-S, an Athlon 1.2 266 cpu, 256 MB of crucial DDR in an Antec SX830 case with 4 case fans, and a ThermalTake Dual Orb HSF. Bios indicates that CPU is running at 53c. Is this too hot? If so, how do you cool the system down?

Additonal data:

VCore 1.84V
2.5V 2.71V
3.3V 3.42V
5V 5.12V
12V 12.42V

Thanks in advance.

The latest Bios update has been installed.

I would change the HSF. Your temp isnt horrible but it isnt very good either.

Those big orbs are really for smaller chips. Check into a GlobalWin, or something better and less stressful on the socket. That and some Arctic Silver will go a long way to lower that temp.

I ordered a Taisol CGK760092 w/copper base insert. I'll post the new numbers when I install it.

Thanks for the help.

I'm also retiring the generic Fry's thermal compound and going with the Artic Silver.
