Is 52 Psi low for water pressure to the kitchen?

The water pressure under my kitchen sink is coming in at 52psi, this seems kind of low. I thought water pressure to the house should be 70 to 80psi. If it is low, how can it be fixed.

If it is low it can be fixed by installing a booster pump.

Fifty two doesn't seem low to me.

80psi would be pretty beast out of a kitchen sink. If you shot it strait up with no air resistance, it would have an apoapsis of 185 feet.

We actually have a sink at work that was mis set to 75psi. It puts out about 30GPM and rocks the whole thing backwards when you turn it on. You can't wash anything under it full blast because it soaks anything within 10 feet and it looks like you just took a shower.

Keep in mind Psi isn't the only metric for how much water your sink is outputting. At no flow it has maximum pressure, and at max flow the pressure can drop substantially if the rest of the plumbing can't keep up. You might have a mini clog somewhere.

52 PSI should be fine. I have a guage on my under-sink treatment system and it reads about 55.

In my town the city pumps in at 100 and most houses have limiters setting it to 75.

I just found that out this morning.

Most areas say it should be between 20 psi and 60 psi (.8GPM and 1.5GPM). 40 is right in the middle.

Reminds me of this from one of my favorite movies:

The pressure is fine and like others have said, you probably have a restriction. First thing to look at is the aerator on the end of the faucet. Take it off and turn on the water. Next would be the shutoff valve under the sink, close it and open it. If this fails, turn off the water upstream of the valve (probably have to turn off all the water in the house), remove the valve and affix a hose into a bucket and have someone turn the water back on for a few seconds to see if the valve was the problem.

I had the galvanized pipe corrode inside to the point that it was totally blocked. I hope you have better luck than me.
