Hi,

I have a new computer and today when I came from work I checked the temperatures of the CPU and they were 52 degrees celcius. I was wondering if this high temperatures harm my cpu or not? also, What temperatures would harm my cpu?

My cpu is a AMD xp 1800+

52 degrees Celsius is fine for your CPU. I think around 70 degrees Celsius its bad. It also depends on how you take the temperature. I get around 50 degrees Celsius measured by my Abit KR7A.

I have an AMD Duron 1Ghz, i also have my case open and my temps right now are 49C for the CPU and 34C for the motherboard.

Your temps are just fine. Have no worries.

Just a quick note here. For those running ~50c+, it would seem that those are "Idle" temps. If so, how high do they go under "load". That could be a problem and you should do a "Prime95" or other form of stress test to see the results. Just a suggestion, not trying to have you push the panic button.

52°C is just fine, even for an idle temperature. 60-65 is where you should start worrying.
