Is 450 a good asking price for this boat and trailer?

It is 14' , 36" wide with high sides. It has a live well and comes with a Johnson foot controlled trolling motor and another trolling motor for parts. The trailer is a tilt trailer.

It's probably a decent price, but a friend of ours dropped off a boat/trolling motor very similar to that one a few months ago to give to my 12 year old. I think he's used it once, but it tells me it wasn't that sellable.

Well I am in duck hunting heaven here in Arkansas so I hope it sells pretty easily when the season gets going

What work? I buy it from my dad and put it in my yard, no work involved, I didn't even have to go get it! I buy and resell stuff on an almost daily basis, it is like my gambling addiction

If you're doing this for profit then you shouldn't pay more than 50% of what you think you'll get from it.

I'd offer $250 cash, maybe.. Make sure no rivets or welds are popped on the hull

Nope, not worth it. Maybe with a 2-5hp older johnson or evinrude kicker on the back it would be worth $500.00ish, but with just a trolling motor, no way.

Most I'd give for a boat like that is $175

I will keep it if I don't get my 275, I'm pretty confident I can get at least 350-400 after asking some friends that hunt/fish about it.

I'd say 400 should be in the ball park, especially in duck hunting country.

Hopefully it's okay to post a link such as a the above, but from an old V bottom (which is inferior to a flat bottom in terms of duck hunting) this guy is asking about 700 with a dying motor.

You should, IMO, at least get your money back out of it, if not a 100 or so more. Plenty of guys are happy with an old flat bottom and mud buddy motor or something similar.

This, electric trolling motor only makes it automatic the buyer has to go and find a small outboard. I would hate to be out with that with only a trolling motor and a storm comes up and your trying to get back to the ramp..

op i sold alot of boats(30+)
obv its regional, but in MA in spring, that setup goes for $500 all day
fall/winter diff animal
more of a pain
part the trailer $250
hull $200-300
acess=???
i dont think alot ppl realize, a straight jon hull 12' new costs $600

Only issue I would have with that boat would be the 36" width. I have a 1448 fisher that is about as narrow as I would be comfortable in.

Edit: Didn't realize you were the one selling it. that'd be a good price for the buyer.

Boats depreciate horribly, especially in this economy.

600 new is $150 used by the 2nd or 3rd year. No engine either and a trolling motor is a horrible excuse for propulsion. The trailer is a throwaway, especially with those tiny rims. (what are they, 8 inch?)

I'll stand by my original assessment of $200.00 max. Hope you make a killing on it though, OP.

Depreciation... Ski boats... sure. Super fast boats with twin 454s... sure.

A flat bottom boat without a motor? What the hell do you depreciate? I don't disagree that some boats depreciate horribly, but a flat bottom with trailer should easily sell for a bit under the cost of a brand new boat provided the used boat is in a clean and workable condition.

As for the trolling motor... well, you'd be surprised what some duck hunters will do. Hell, some go to areas where they have to wade through shallow muck and a motor would simply slow them down. In some cases, a duck hunter may not want a motor at all. Not many operate this way... but some do. And for $400, that boat would be in the ball park of a lot of rinky dink hunters.
