is 45 C okay for idle with stock hsf?

It is OK but with stock cooler if you were to really load it (HT as well) you would be in the mid 60's easy.....

The new HSF should help but I wouldn't expect a big drop in idle...Maybe be about 4-5c lower but the big gain will come in the load swings...Yous hould be able to be in the mid 50's...

Look at case cooling as well to help bring temps down....

I had a 2.4@3.5ghz with a slight overvolt of only .06v and it idled at 38-40c and loaded to 58-60c and that was with a high end cooler (just a notch below the cooler you are getting)....

If I dropped it to 3.4ghz and ran it at default vcore I woul have load temps only at 55-56c.....

If I dropped it to 3ghz I was in the 52c range and 36c idle....

MHZ wil increase the temps but not as much as when you up the voltage even slightly....From 2.4ghz to 3.2ghz (800mhz) at same vcore them load temps only increase 3c....The last 300mhz with .06v inceased it by 6-8c....
