Is 430W enough for this build?

Here's what I'm planning to buy:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3
2GB (2x1GB) Kingston 667Mhz
Sparkle 8800GT Silent
Samsung 500GB HD501LJ
Asus 1814-BLT
Antec Solo
Seasonic S12 II 430W
Dvico FusionHDTV Dual Digital 4
SoundBlaster Audigy Value (for separate audio output to TV)

plus add existing components:

Western Digital 120GB IDE
Samsung 160GB SATA
Samsung 250GB SATAII
Pioneer 16x DVD-RW IDE
D-Link DFM-562IS 56k (for telephone answering machine)

I hope to overclock the CPU to 10x333Mhz=3.33Ghz (or higher if stable).

So is 430W enough? The S12II 430W has 2 +12V rails each with 17A. It's $99.

If not I'd probably consider the Corsair HX520. It has 3 +12V rails each with 18A. It's $142.
Or the Seasonic S12 Energy Plus 550W. It has 4 +12V rails each with 18A. It's $156.
Going higher the Corsair HX620 is $164 and the Seasonic S12 Energy Plus 650W is $185.

All prices are in AUD. So you see the 430W is the best value, but is it enough?

The Earthwatts has an 80mm fan so it would be louder. I'm after as quiet as possible.

The you'll want a Corsair PSU. They are nice and quiet.

With all the drives you have you'll want more then that Seasonic will offer. I suggest the VX 550 from Corsair. It will have more then enough power and run quiet as can be.

Why do you recommend the VX550 over the HX520? Is it quieter? Is it just for the extra 30W? The HX is modular and the VX is not. And the VX has just one 12V+ rail whereas the HX has 3. The VX is $8 cheaper (so a non-issue).

A little googling also told me that the VX550 is made by Channel Well and the HX520 is made by Seasonic.

Actually the HX520 is also a single rail unit even though the label says otherwise. It was done that way for marketing purposes back when multiple railed PSUs where considered the thing to have. Anyway either one is fine and both perform equally as well and quietly. So if modular is your thing then go with the HX620. As you can see in my sig in my sig i have the VX550 and its a great unit. I would have the HX520 but the VX550 was a gift so i can't complain. I'd like to have the modular cables rather then a wrapped bundle of cables at the bottom of my case.

The Seasonic 430w is fine, up to you if you want to go higher for the 520hx. Obviously the benefit is a bit more overhead and modular.

I think the SII 12 430w unit will be enough ... Harddrives don't consume much energy at all, only at spin up they consume some energy, but nothing the S12 II 430w can't handle. He doesn't have a qaud, the only thing midly powerconsuming is his 8800gt. Those extra 90w from the 520hx aren't going to make the difference, and cost a mindblowing 40$ extra ...

Tossup between the two, but 20w isn't going to matter either... And in the end I think the S12 II will be slightly quieter and better qaulity.

That $7 also buys you an extra 2 yr warranty with an outstanding RMA policy.

Earthwatts 500 is very quiet under normal use (in-audible inside the case). If your components draw more than 250 watts, then noise from the CPU, GPU, and case fans will dominate the PSU noise.

Noise level operates on a log scale. A difference of 2 to 3 dBA is barely audible.

Yes that power supply will easily power this build, the quality and warranty support is also far better than the Antec Earthwatts.

I actually have a very similar question, so I figured I'd tack it on here rather than start a new thread. I'm also planning on overclocking an e4500 to 3.0ghz and up, with:
-gigabyte DS3L
-ati hd3850
-1 optical drive
-1 sata hdd
-firewire/wireless pci cards

I've got a 400W Forton Souce AX400-PN, with 18A on the V1 12V, and 16A on the V2 12V.

This will be my first overclock, and want to verify i wont kill my system with an underpowered PSU!

I don't see an issue unless you plan on heavy overvolting. That will increase power usage dramatically.
