Does this mean that at 230 lbs, 100lbs of it is gonna be fat and I have 43% body fat?

Get a DEXA scan.

Any osteoporosis testing center will have a DEXA scanner.

Man, you must be super-built, ron. 164 at 5'11" with 8% fat is amazing. Why is everyone on this forum in such good shape? we're supposed to be a bunch of fat, overweight, balding computer geeks.

It's not me. Look at the site, he is a (former)professional cyclist. The first scan also lists his age at 44 at the time of the scan.

How much would a scan like that cost?

hehe I love it when people say they have less than 5% body fat. One of the kids on my team tried to tell me had 2% body fat, and I told him that anything under 5% is basically physically impossible, but he insisted he had it tested a dozen times. As for me, I've been tested twice, once with calipers and once with the electro-gizmo. The calipers said I had 6.5% and the electrical gizmo said I was below the lower limit for it's range 😀

Ronnie Coleman was on the Tonight Show a few years back and boasted he was 1 or 2% or something ridiculous. He should know better, but I guess part of the problem is as you said with your experience with electrical impedance, all of the measurement methods begin to break down as you approach uber-leanness.

Supposedly pro bodybuilders may briefly hit 3-4% right at competition, and that's being juiced to the gills. They say that at that level of competition, the steroids' primary benefit are to allow you to hang onto some of your lean mass as you starve yourself down.

Ronnie Coleman also claims to be natural.
