Is 43% body fat possible?

When I was 170 lbs (after losing 70 lbs of weight) I got a body composition test and I was had ~24% BF (40 lbs). (The lady who did the testing thought that 24% was high and might have been inaccurate.)

I've since gone up to 230 lbs.

Does this mean that at 230 lbs, 100lbs of it is gonna be fat and I have 43% body fat?

Considering some people can weigh over 1300lb, and the weight of bones doesn't increase nor the amount of muscle in most cases... yes I'd say it's easily possible. Definately not recommended however...

As for you, unless you gained a lot of muscle in that time, it's probably not far off from that number sadly...

No kidding... It happened over 2.5 years.

Did you get married 2.5 years ago?

Met my GF, got lazy and didn't go to gym and started eating junk food again.

Not a good combination.

Lol same thing happened to me. I went up to 305 until like June. I'm back down to 280 and not stopping until about 240-250, where I pretty much think my body fat percentage will be about 6-9%. Right now it's 25% but I don't that's very accurate because I don't trust the digital readers for people who arent average size or height. But even when i was a fat mess freshman year (before i even started working out, hitting up the cafeteria food like it was my job) my BF% never got above 35% i think.

Anyways, 6-pack here I come. I'm very determined to reach this goal and no cheeseburger will stop me. The lightest I ever weighed (since freshman year) was 265 (last summer...met my girl in oct after that summer) and I didn't look bad. This time, I'm shattering that number.

Some days it seems like it, and I live near Denver which, at least some years ago, was supposed to be the leanest and most fit area of the country.

I'm signing up for another body composition test today to get an accurate number (in the water tank).

digital fat percentage readers do it by electrical resistance in your body. hydration levels will affect it, but body type usually doesn't.

Of course it is. Didn't you see this episode of the Simpsons where homer is sitting in this tank and it shows that he has 104% body fat on the monitor? "This can't be right, this man has 104% body fat" --some doctor

Exactly what I was going to ask. Nothing ruins a once healthy body then the mundane lifestyle of a married person.

Damn man, how tall/big are you that 240 lbs will be 6% body fat (which is about as low as you can physically get)

Ah that may explain it. I always lift in the morning an hour or two after I wake up. My water weight flucates by a few pounds every day, which I can see on the scale when my weight is like +/- 3-4 pounds throughout the day. Thanks for the insight!

Is it possible? Have you seen some of those huge fvcks down at friendlies? There's a reason they can't even fit all the way into the booth, and it isn't because their gigantic ass is made out of rock solid muscle.
