3 x ide hdd 2 x optical drive core 2 duo 6400 and 7800gt pci-e or shopukld i stick with my old 550 watt psu from maddog?

The answer is Mabye, list the Specs and rails and who makes the 420 watt PSU, if it has enough on the 12V rail it may work if its a decent brand.

what umena by rails? and where on power supply it say amperage? it said total output is 420 watts and is made by RaidMax.

the power supply got 4x 4 pin power for ide device, 1 sata power, 1 24 pin for mobo, the 4 pin for processor and 2 floppy power

on the side it said +3.3v +5v +12v -5v -12v+5vsb

Aye I would not trust that raidmax that came w/ your case w/ a 10Ft pole, just junk it or have it recycled that thing is a good way to burn your system lol 🙂

raidmax.........
what i thought was cute when somebody asked --The answer is Mabye, list the Specs and rails and who makes the 420 watt PSU, if it has enough on the 12V rail it may work if its a decent brand.

Then the OP replied -- it said atx 12v power by Raidmax
---tooo way too funny!!

Oh come on, I had a Raidmax and it ran my system fine for 2 hours, then died...heh, at least it worked for 2 hours...fried my mobo, ram, vid...STUP!D@$&@^#!*@ well, you get the idea.

Want to know what the irony is? Yesterday night i am breating a new conroe build, I tried using the maddog psu with an ecs nforce board, but the ecs mobo that i bough at microcenter that day was lagging so bad, dunno the reason. I switch to the asrock 775 dual i have in storage, but.. i pull too hard at the 4 pin cable to the processor that one of the cable snapped!! Out of option i slept for the night and on firday i went to compusa in hope of finding the motex to 4 pin processor cable. Nope but they don;t have it. Then i see an antec smart power 2.0 on sale for 40 after rebate so i pick it up amd it poeer up asrock no problem and everythign went smoothly.

Here is an issue. I am planning to build a amd xp system for my parent wqith soem left over parts when i switch to conroe. I also know for sure micro center got the 5 pin motex to processor cable. Should I:

Keep the antec and give the mad dog psu to my parent build or

Buy the 4 pin cable from miceocenter, return the anetc to compusa and use raidmax on my parent amd build?

As to people who thing my comment to the raidmax psu is funny, i am an amateur on reading how good a psu really us from the metal casing.

Take that Raidmax and Maddog power supply, poor some gasoline on them and light a match. Now go watch em burn.

I think 420watts should be enough for what u have there.
Stick to better brand PSU tho, as the others have suggested.

A quality 450W suppy should do. Masscool Nextherm 460W, Enhance ENP 460W, Sunbeam Nuuo 450W, Antec Trio 430W, Seasonic S12 430W, all are good options.
