is 400w going to cut it for 4850?

PSU is a FSP AX400. i also have 2 HDs, 1 DVD, 2 system fans running @5v each. AMD X2 3800 @2.4ghz.

also: is AMD X2 3800 @2.4ghz. + 4850 enough to run new games at max details on 720p? 1080p? I'm guessing not crysis but everything else?

edit: I currently have 7600GT. left4dead looks pretty good @720p and medium details. crysis runs on minimum but looks like crap. I know I have a crap card but shouldn't they make games that degrade gracefully?

That's actually a 350 watt power supply not 400 watt.

It's got 29A steady on the +12, you should be fine, you are pushing it close, but not too bad.

People tend to overestimate power needed like hell for some reason. A quality 450W psu will power any non SLI/Xfire gamer pc on the planet. A 350W is enough for a X2 and 4850 which draws less power than a 4870.

I see all these people with 600-800w psus powering a single video card, a single cpu, maybe 2 hdds and an optical drive and i just wonder why since at idle, the pc is maybe running at 70% efficency and at load I doubt it would even reach much above 80.

Max details, 720p, probably unless you're playing Crysis or Supreme Commander. 1080p, doubtful.

That's not combined 12 v rail. It's more like 25A on the 12 v rail combined. Might be a little less.

That power supply can't sustain 350watt continuous wattage at 50C where most power supplies run at. That particular power supply has 350watt continuous power at 30C. At operating temperature it's more like 275watts of continuous power.
