Think of it as a bonus. If you want a high end set, it WILL come with 3D but there's nothing that says you HAVE to use it.

Personally I don't think it's worth investing anything extra in. My tv came with it. Fios TV has some 3D movies if you subscribe to HBO (or starz too I think). You have to buy glasses too though, which costs extra unless yours comes bundled with some (in which case its just rolled up in the price anyways). There is one 3d sports channel, but nothing really that interesting on it. Image quality is ok, but nowhere as good as if you see it in a theater (at least on my set). Have to get a 3d bluray player too if you plan on watching those (which is extra vs. a non-3d player). At a minimum you are probably looking at an extra couple hundred in costs vs. non-3d stuff. Now that I've seen it, I'm perfectly fine if I never watch another home-3d movie on it.

Is it a High Quality experience?? The 3d that is??

IMO, I wouldn't upgrade my TV just for 3D. However, if you are looking for the best 2D TV it WILL come with 3D, so you'll get a chance to test it out and see if you like it. If you don't like it, don't use it.

Walking through walmart the other day on the way to the tvs. Passed by thousands and thousands of movies and DVD sets, then just as we get to the tvs, there's about 16 movies with a 3D cover and I thought 'that's not very much content'.

There isn't a lot of content out there now, but most new movies are being released with a 3D version.

Even though a lot more 3d content is becoming available (theres a good 40-50 movies/documentaries out now) a lot of it still isnt shot in 3d. Captain America and Thor are good examples. it was shot 2d and converted to 3d in post production. Quite a few of the content choices (Toy story 1 and 2) are that way too.
