Is 320RAM an awkward amount?

I'll have a total of 320MB of RAM in my machine soon. Don't you think that is a awkward amount? I think it is. I'm used to

16, 32, 48, 64, 96, 128, 160, 192, 256, 384, 512, etc

well i'd say the 168 you listed is a lot more awkward than 320...considering it can't exist 😉

168 DIMMS I think they mean =)

I have 320MB as well, 128+128+64.. But getting a 256 soon and giving the 64 to my sister.

128+128+256 = 512MB woo!

i just added 40mb to my system today. (32+8)

now i have 64+64+32+8 = 168mb SDRAM. The 32 and 8 stick are 10ns though, and Budman tells me that speed is only pc-66.

can anyone else confirm that?

also, even if it is pc-66, its still rated for 100mhz, so it should be fine on a 100 FSB right?

I am not saying 8 meg sticks are not possible but i never seen one,Maybe old Pc66 might come in 8 meg sticks.

Nothing wrong with 320...that's what I am using now. 3 DIMM slots, 128 + 128 + 64.

Alright. My RAM is due here on Thursday. I'll take a 64 out, and put a 128 in. Mwave has good prices if anyone is interested in buying RAM right now. Mwave

Yes, it is an incredibly awkward amount!

Take out 256MB and send it to me. Then your remaining 64MB will be a more common amount.

10ns means that it will run at 100 mhz but does not mean that it will run at the PC100 spec. Early SDRAM could run at 100 mh but then when intel created the PC100 spec, not all the memory qualified.

Toms Hardware has a very good article written over a year and a half ago that tells you just about everything you need to know about ram (even Rambus).
