Is 300W enough for two 1GHz CPU?

I want to build a new system with:
Abit VP6
Two Intel 1GHz CPU
WD 30G
256M PC133

Is 300W power supply enough?

Should be plenty as long as it's a power supply of good quality!!! If your gonna invest that much in the board\cpu's etc....I don't think I would go cheap on the power supply!!!

I hope you're talking about Intel CPU's, because AMD CPU's don't have the APIC feature...

My second question is:
If 300W is more than enough, is 250W enough for two Intel 1GHz CPU?
Because I found one Intel 1GHz CPU only needs less than 40W.
Not only 250W case is cheaper than 300W, but also I can choose 250W case much easier.

why are u gonna put a dual 1ghz ina case that only has a 250watt??

personaly i wouldn't put my dualie ina 300watt system unless i removed alot of the stuff connected to it i run enermax PSU's mines a 450watter right now the enermax dual fan 350's are about 50$

get a nice like some of the colorcase.com ones or a poweruser style addtronics like mine(otherwise u get to think about how u spent 300$ a cpu and all that money ina cheap 30$ white case)

If I were you I'd go with the 550 W Enermax dual fan PSU... Does the job!

(I only have the 330 W myself, and I love it)

550 watts?!?!? Perhaps for a quad-processor Alpha box with an 8-way Ultra160 SCSI RAID array, half-dozen high-powered case fans, and other stuff -- then maybe 550 watts might be sensible. But that's definitely overkill for a simple dual processor box. A good 300 watt P.S. should be fine.

You would have no trouble at all with an Enermax 350.

The Enermax EG351P-VE (actually rated at 330watts, not 350) is what is powering my dual P3-800. I was going to try running it off a 250 watt Antec, but I "chickened out" and bought the Enermax to power the system.

Well myself I would stay away from Enermax stick with Antec and a 300 should do fine depending on what else is in the system. If your really going to load up the PCI cards and Hard Drive and CDroms then I would get the Antec pp403x 400 watt just to be safe.

I'd recommend you stay away from Antec and stick with Enermax. You'll see far more positive commends about Enermax then you will Antec power supplies. Besides, you won't get any support from Antec should anything go wrong.

1 GHz CPU = 3.3W x 2 = 6.6W (this is not right! I MUST HAVE BEEN ON CRACK EDIT!)
WD 30GB HD = 13W

You've got 300W to use. I think you'll be plenty under that with lots to spare!

A word about the edit. For some reason I thinking that volts were watts. Shoot me please I feel like an idiot!

A 1 GHz CPU uses about 60-80 W each!!!! (That is TB's, dunno if the 40 W is correct for P3)

Why do you think Asus recommends at least a 250 W PSU to the A7V mobo? (1 CPU mobo if there are any doubts)

3.3 W could be fanned away by a sleepy mosquito.
