Is $300 a good price for the new X800 XT All in Wonder??

We get special deals on cards from my work and this one just came up:

$250 + 7.5% markup + tax (8.8%) plus shipping...

Puts it around $300....

What card would this compare to that ATI makes? I have a 6800 GT right now....

Thanks,

Mackie

i think id say that it very good, though not living in the US i dont really know, do 6800GTs for for $399 or something in the US? basically the X800XT is a very fast card...probably sits inbetween the 6800GT and the 6800Ultra (maybes its faster than the ultra, but im not sure) plus its an all in wonder card. the AIW bit usually adds p the price....so 300 has to be a steal IMO

it is just a X800XT with extra video functions provided by the AIW bit, so it will just as fast as a regular X800XT

this card is a steal! let's just say if you decided to sell it (to be at your cost) haha jk. But seriously you can easly sell it for 400.

Actually, at that price, my first response would be "what's wrong with it?". 😕

This is not from some fly-by-night seller on eBay, is it?

I don't think anyone has EVER seen this card out in the wild.

1) Are you sure its's the X800XT AIW and not just a VIVO model?
2) Regardless of what it is $300 for ANY X800XT is a steal.
3) If you don't like it ebay it for twice what you paid for it. (I heard list for that card $500 and no one can buy them right now)

It's amazing how almost none of you read what he said.
He gets a discount WHERE HE WORKS.

I read just fine. (Typing is another matter)

What that hopefully means is that these will soon be available. (Assuming he works at some place like Best Buy. If he works for ATI we may never see that card as the first info about it came out in Sept and its still nowhere to be found :disgust: )

I think what most have said in this thread is that any of us would love to buy it at that price.

I know I would.

Yes realized that after posting. What can I say other than about 3 hours of sleep and no coffee

Anyway Mackie;

I guess you've gotten the idea, Everyone here thinks its a good deal. If you have the $300, and you want the AIW parts ( video inputs ) its great. You won't see much difference in performance between it and your 6800 GT. If you look around you'll see: 1. This card is about as common as a unicorn; 2. A line-up of people willing to buy it from you ( me, me, ooh, ooh, me).

I work at M$

So we get cards at special deals for employees, vendors and contractors....

This is the BEST deal by far.....

We can also get the 9800 Pro for $145 shipped.......

They have a couple other cards...

x600 256meg for $145 shipping

x600XT for about $180

Both are PCI-E

Is $300 a good price for the new X800 XT All in Wonder??
YES. That is a smokin' price. The X800 XT was the second (and a VERY CLOSE SECOND) to ATI's flagship X800 XT PE (Platinum Edition) videocard.

However, the X800 XT Alll in Wonder's performance is not as fast as that of a "straight" ATI X800 XT card.I'm not sure what it is, maybe its' the additional overhead/sharing of the buses - whatever. As far as performance goes, while not as fast as the "straight" X800 XT it should still spank a 6800GT pretty well. Should lag behind the 6800 Ultra in most games if not all.

That said, your cost of $300.00 is still a smokin' deal! If I were you I would probably buy one - just depends on your budget and whats most important to you. Do you want and will you really use the All in Wonder functions for TV-Out, ect., or will your focus be gaming? If strictly gaming AND you can spend another $100.00 you might consider the Micro Center deal for $400.00 on the Visiontek Xtasy X800 XT (non-PE). If interested see the threads below for details and anotherr smokin' deal but HURRY (ends 1/16/2005).

Not to hijack your thread, but Micro Center has a 20% Off Sale on lots of merchandise, including the Visiontek lineup.

I think they are sold out, the fastest cards on that site I could find were a 256MB 6600, and a 9600.

Excellent deal. All in Wonder cards retain their value longer too. Also you can then sell 6800GT you have for $300 and get this card. Think of it as getting a faster card for Free. Or you can sell the X800XT card for $500 and make a profit.

yeah..my buddy works at M$ Seattle. He can get the same deals. Reason being is ATI is running the new Xbox's. So in appreciation for M$, they're giving all M$ employees discounts on their cards. Back in the day when the 9800 pro was running @ 300 I could have purchased one for $200 which was smokin back then. But I passed..don't know why..but I did 🙁

Does a bear sh1t in the woods?

Considering a "straight" XT retails for $400+, I think the answer is obvious.....
