No. When I was in college I saw plenty of "older" students. The vast majority of students treated them just like everyone else. There are so many diverse types of people on a typical college campus that being older is far from the type that is likely gain any attention.

You might get a few weird looks now and then, but it shouldn't be too bad.

I have been a few older students in classes that I have taken. One of them (late 30s, 2 kids) was in my group for an entire semester and he was great. Showed me how to do alot of the HW, did a great job on the project, and we ended up getting an A in the class. I dont think its ever too late and I dont think anyone would look down upon you for going.

I've seen 50 and 60 year old people taking classes at my college. They freak me out. 30's fine.

One of my fellow students and fellow EE graduate had kids that were older than me. You might have a few jokes cracked at your expense and it might be a little awkward hanging out with 18yr olds but if you are passionate, it won't be a problem.

I had a lady in my classes that was near 80+. She always sat beside me and fell asleep on the front row. It thought it was funny.

She had been teaching for ~40 years and they would not let her teach anymore unless she had her BA.

Nothing is too old. I'm in classes with people as old as 50 or 60 all the time. There is no 'correct age' or 'right way'. Anyone who has a problem with it is an idiot.

People have gone back to school in their 30s and 40s to earn MBAs, Master's, etc. It's not a rarity.

It's not too old, there will be a few guys your age and older in the class. They tended to work together on homework and projects too. The rest of the guys are going to call you "old" or "older" behind your back and sometimes to your face, so get used to it and figure out a way to have fun with it.

Going into an undergraduate engineering program is enough of a grind for an 18 year old with essentially zero responsibilities. I always wondered how those guys in their 30's and 40's could do it. The main thing I remember them saying was "it's rough man" :)

I've had 30 year olds in several of my undergrad classes. As long as your not the guy that answers every single question and proceeds to ask a million more, you should be fine.

I was 28 when I went back, and was far from the oldest person. There were 50 year old ladies who had become bored of being housewives and were starting new careers. Don't sweat it.

who cares what the 18-22 y/o think. if you have the desire to do then just do it.

Exactly...I'm 40 and just finishing my AA so I still have another 2-3 yrs left. Of course I do most of it online so they have no idea how old I am :)

I really question why so many people are bothered by this. That's the entire point of college (or at least it can be, depending on your views). It's not to get a degree for a job, it's not to party, it's not to make your parents happy: it's to learn. Without questioning and exploring there can be no meaningful learning.

If you're feeling left out then take an active role. Ask your own questions, and try to answer those put to you.

I know there are a few such students at my school in CS/IS. So it's not unheard of.
