im moving my old pc parts to my folks. but they only have 250w. i used 300.
will it be enuff for that kind of hardware?

how about my new pc

athlon xp 2500+
512 pc3200 ddr 400 infineon
asus a7v8x-x kt 400mb
geforce4 4200

will 300w be enuff for this?

If it's a generic psu (more than likely) then the 1.4 will prob not last too long as it uses a fair amount of power, personally I'd prefer to be safe and use a decent 300w psu.

Your new pc should be fine but again don't expect a generic( if that is what you have) 300w psu to last too long with what your running.

Worth investing in a decent quality 400w psu like Antec,Enermax,Sparkel,Fortron,TTGI to name a few.

If your mobo has a P4 connector like the MSI KM2M or KT2 Combo L units then those PSUs (with a P4 adapter if needed) would probably be enough.

i have no idea what that is so heres the systems

for the 1.4 tbird its a asus a7v 133

and for the 2500+ barton its a a7v8x-x

No, period. I consider a 350w to be the bare minimum when using an Athlon processor, though some claim to use a 300w without problems - I think they just got lucky.

Neither of those mobos appear to have the P4 aux CPU power connector so they will require strong PSUs.
The power rating of the PSU has less impact than the 3.3+5V max power rating - you want 180Watts or more.
