Is 2 GB really worth upgrading to from 1 GB?

Ze question, I have 1 GB of mushkin redline XP4000's, but people are starting to go into 2X1 GB sticks... So the question is... Is it worth upgrading to 2 GB or should I just stay with my happy redlines with low latency timings?

Low latency timings won't do much for your performance.

2 GB RAM will though, especially for games that use it.

If your into BF2,Fear and a couple other newer FPS'ers then yeah. I ain't though and untill more games come that will put 2gb to use I plan on sticking with my crappy memory.

This is the question you really should decide before looking at upgrading. Personally I plan to stay with my opteron 165 skt 939 for now until AM2 really offers an advantage. Heck, I just built this thing and was upgrading from a Socket A system so it sometimes takes me a while to go up.

If you do decide to hold onto your skt 939 I cannot stress enough how nice it is to have 2gb of ram. I hate to say it but the newer games benefit greatly from it, whether that is due to crappy code, advanced features or both.

I would get 2 gigs of ram and hold on until AM2 becomes more mature and has time to come down in price.
