Is 2.85 memory voltage good enough?

I was wondering if 2.85 volts is good enough for memory voltage, i look and see on the dfi that it can go to 4V dimm, and the msi neo 4 is 2.85. Is 2.85 really enough for oc'ing?

Depends on the modules and latencies you are after. Some modules work best at uber voltages like the Twinmos TMSP400 (depending on when it was made) and OCZ VX series. You can hit 250-260 2-2-2-8 timings on those bad boys but at 3.4 to 3.6 volts. Other memories work better at lower voltage for not to far away latencies as those. It depends on what you want to do and how far you are willing to push your rig

The memory in question matters a lot. If you are using Winbond chips (BH-5, UTT), then more volts will help your overclock. If you are using Samsung TCCD, then anything more than 2.9 vDimm won't help and is potentially dangerous. Obviously, the extra options are usefull, but if you aren't using Winbond chips, then you really shouldn't worry too much.

So oc'ing to 2.5 ghz from 2.0 ghz with patriot xbl (2-2-2-5) timings will be good enough at 2.7 volts for the memory? say at 250 X 10 with an msi neo 4 platinum?

Doubt you will get those kind of timings at that latency. What chips do the Patriot's use and what is their rated speed specs? I would be shocked and delighted for you if you hit those frequencies with those latencies

not those timings lol, but those are timings at stock speeds lol, they use tccd chips i believe. :)
