Is 2.7v bad for RAM?

Is 2.7v too high for DDR RAM? My board (ASUS P4B533-E) has the lowest setting at 2.6v. It wasn't running stable, so I bumped it up to 2.7v. Will it harm the RAM?

Usually you can go to 2.9V without any issues. Anything over that and you may want to consider heat spreaders on the RAM, or RAM designed for higher voltages.

I have some Corsair Value Select PC3200. It won't run 200MHz @ 2.6V, but the Corsair support website even says to bump up the voltage a bit before worrying about it.

Give 2.7V or 2.8V a try, run some Memtest86, and see what happens.

Thanks. It's one stick of Corsair XMS PC3200 and a stick of Mushkin PC3200, both running at 2.7v. I'll run memtest over night and see if anything turns up

I ran XMS3200 @ 3.1v for close to six months. Still ran fine when I sold it to my brother. He's runs it at 2.8v for 2 years now.

Uhh depends right. Default 2.6, but iff you have TCCD chips 2.7 is fine. Don't go above 2.9. Warranty for OCZ will cover till 2.9

UTT? Well..... BH-5? CH-5? Muhahaha 3.5 should be safe. 3.6 is the max for me, but I've heard of people testing 3.7... RAWr...

It all depends what IC the particular model ram is using, and I guess the PCB to a certain extent may play a roll in what voltage it likes and doesn't.
