Is 2.08 volts too high for Athlon for daily use?

I have an Epox 87ka running my 1G AXIA at 1551 with 2.08. She will post at 16xx but I can run her through benches etc stable. I am tempted to leave it this way but I don't want to fry this...yet.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

:D

With really good cooling and the plan to replace it within 2 years, you should be ok.

I have an OCZ gladiator and I would like it too last a little more than 2 years.

Please advise

I tend to agree with Ath4all. That should make that proc smokin' hot. Unless you're peltier or water cooling I would keep it around 1.4Ghz. Hey, a 40% OC ain't nothing to scoff at.

As long as the voltage comes naturally from the mobo (no voltage mods) the processor should be able to take it. I would monitor it and if you start getting period of unexplained instability cut the juice down a little bit. :)

Some of the suggestions are extremely funny. I am sure that I am shortening the life of the cpu somewhat but how much I don't know. I rememer when the .18 micron process first came out they (MOBO makers) said 2.1 should be fine but limited the volts to 1.85 and the reviewers (Anand and the boys !) were saying at least give us 2.0 volts so I am not sure if this is a big deal or not.

2 years from now I will want my new 4.5 Gig AMD Hammer but who knows what the future holds. One thing is for sure though it is really cool to say that I have a CPU that is faster than you can currently buy in a store (at least for a couple more weeks). I thought I was super cool when I got one of the first Duron 600's and had it at 1050@1.85 volts and just a stock coolermaster on it. In the end it is a lot more fun OC'ing my cpu than hopping up my car (Mazda Protege ES) it won't leak oil in the house and the end result would be that I spend another 125 bucks and get a faster CPU...I LOVE AMD!!!

Great O/Cing...50% more. But a bit high on voltage I would say. If u don't need that raw speed on a long term basis...wouldn't it be nice just to slow down a bit?

U already achieved something when u hit tht marks.
