Meh.com (the deal-a-day website) is currently having a sale on various refurbished AOC-branded monitors, the highest-end of which is an AOC 27" IPS frameless monitor for $197.

https://meh.com/deals/assorted-aoc-monitors--refurbished-

Specs:

Model: I2757FH-B

Ultra-thin LED IPS Monitor (10.6mm thin)
Multiple I/O Ports (2 HDMI)
Viewable Image Size: 27”
16:9 Aspect Ratio
WLED Backlight
Brightness: 250cd/m2
50,000,000:1 DCR
5ms Response Time
Two built-in speakers
Screen+ Technology
e-Saver Feature for low power consumption

For the past few years, I've been using a cheap ASUS 23" 1080p TN panel. It gets the job done, but I wonder if it would be a good idea to upgrade to one of these budget IPS monitors. The larger screen size would be nice and I've never used an IPS screen before. If I were to actually jump on this deal, I would probably actually buy two of them for a dual-monitor setup.

Just to preemptively respond to some concerns that I know people will point out: Yes, 1080p is a small resolution to be spread out across 27". I know. And, honestly, I don't care. In fact I would rather keep my 1080p resolution because I don't have the GPU power to be pushing 1440p and beyond, and I likely won't for a long time.

Just wondering what your guys's thoughts are.

I'd say not really a good deal when a brand new AOC 24 inch IPS monitor is $150.-

For a refurb I think it should be cheaper. My $.02 adjusted for inflation

I hear ya about staying 1080p. I'm in the same boat, been rocking a samsung 27" tv as my main monitor for several years now. Moderate gpu's can push nice fps in most games at that res. Some of the cheap 1440 korean monitors are mighty tempting though.....
