Is 14a enough for the following devices on a 12v rail?

P4 2.8/800, 875p
Radeon X850pro AGP's aux port
2 hard drives
3 optical drives

I've been having a lot of system instability issues with hard crashes while watching divxs' and getting a new power supply really hasn't helped.

I went from 20a on one 12v rail to 14a and 15a with the 15 going to the processor's aux and the 14 driving the rest.

I wonder if this is a power issue or a cooling issue with the radeon. What do you guys think?

are you using a multimeter to take those readings or is that what your PSU manuf says? If it's what the PSU manuf says, what kind of PSU is it?

it's a Thermaltake 500 Purepower... W0100RU

I'm just going by what's on the sticker. I can't imagine that that short list of devices can use that much power when I have another one of these PSU's in the next box over running 5hd's and one optical... all on the 14a, 12v rail

I'm starting to suspet heat on the video card

The Purepower just isn't a good supply, so it is easy for me to imagine some whacky problem. And it is becoming harder to find quality reviews.

Hard drives don't draw that much power, even six of them compared to a X850.

It should have enough power but it's a TT, so who knows.

While thermaltake PSU's are far far from the best, it should be enough. If you had the same instability with both power supplies, it's likely something else. What ram do you have? Have you run memtest?
