Is 100K for a 2 person family (husband/wife) considered lower middle, middle, or upper middle class in the northeast)?

My fiancee thinks 100k here is LOWER middle class. I'm like, "WTF?!?"... i think it's at least middle class and maybe even upper middle class.

I think her standards are a little ridiculous of you ask me

edit: Oh yeah, this is me and my fiancee we're talking about and we live in connecticut.

I wanna move to texas and be RICH :p

Voted middle. I'd say middle to upper-middle would be correct.

EDIT: is your fiancee financially responsible?

I'd also go upper-middle, unless you live in Manhattan or somewhere equally insanely expensive.

Where I am thats upper-middle class. Basicially I would be considered rich in my family if I could get to that pay range.

Isn't the average income for a US citizen about $40,000? If so, I would say you're in the middle class. Do I think thats a lot of money? I would have to say no...

That's because you live in Georgia.

For the Northeast I would say middle class at best. If you were in the south, then I'd say upper middle class.

combined income or is only one person working

imo that would factor into your class

For two people, averaging 50k each, that's def. mid-middle class in CT of all places, though I hate the whole class system as you've used it. "Working class" actually has some meaning.

Wow, it amazes me as to how different parts of country are. My wife and I are the only two in our household. We pay a mortgage on a 1400 sq.ft. house (in great shape, too, not run down), a car payment, cable/cell/insurance/cc/etc bills every month, and still have plenty of money to do most whatever we please. Money is hardly an issue.

Oh ya, I think we may hit $50k combined this year :). Central Kentucky FTW. If we were making $100k combined, we'd be considered high class around here, and would definitely be living "high off the hog".

I live in a 4 bedroom 3 bath 1900 square foot house (alone :() and pay insurance, house note, car note, various utilities, etc. on barely 30k a year. Central Louisiana FTW?
