Is $1000...

honestly, i've known people with alot more debt than that.

you may want to consider working to pay it off, if you care about your future credit history.

Unfortunately, it's not a lot, but you really shouldn't have ANY credit card debt when you're only 21 years old. When you get out of college, you'll need things like car/house/home improvement/clothes/other miscellaneous items to get a running start on real life, and you'll be starting out with $1000 in debt.

Don't do that to yourself. Make it your first priority to pay off the debt. It'll be $1500 in about 8 months.

I'm 21 and I have no credit card debt. 🙂 (and yes, I have a credit card. Have had a credit card for about 2 years now. Have yet to fail to pay if off every month).

depends on your income

Exactly - I'm 19 years old, and I've had a credit card for about 8 months. It sees heavy usage - for a college student, that is (on the order of $100/$200 a month). I make it a point to pay it off each month. I don't buy things I can't afford.

I have $1500 in debt at 0%, should be paid off by October.

Not bad considering my total available credit among my cards is > $35,000

I do work, i make about ~800 a month. I had always pay off my entire balance, but just this summer i been going out too much thats all. i never pay late and i always pay above the minimum. Think this is just an summer thing... or i HOPE😎

Wow, quite a summer to rack that much up =)
I'm 20 and close to 2k in debt from the last school year and the year before. I was supposed to have it most of the way payed off this summer from working, but it looks as if I'll be lucky to get it down below 1k...

ah well, have never missed a payment so my credit is still quite good.

hahah have been quite a summer... best summer i have ever had since middle school😎

the way i look at it... might as well play now since i am young and and all and worry about it later... as long as i keep up the payments i should be good...😀 someone wanna give me some reassurance?😛

you're going to die a terrible terrible death, I mean good luck : P

What is your interest rate? If you don't pay it off, and keep living at / above your means, how much will you lose in paying interest that you could spend on something nice instead?

For example, you pay 9% interest and you don't take care of the debt (just pay new bills and the interest). After a year, you're $90 out of pocket. Wouldn't an extra $90 be a nice thing to have?

Worse yet, you let it creep up $100/month and next year you owe $2200 and are out something like $150 in interest.

Up to you. The "have fun now, pay debts later" plan is not always a bad idea, you can make up for it after you get a job 🙂

This is actually distributed over three credit cards. They all have UNDER 10% interest. Amex blue, Amex cash, and a citicard. I guess when school comes back around i won't go out as much and would have more money to pay... school starts on wednesday 🙁
